Welcome to Sheikalmudi Bungalow

Sheikalmudi Bungalow was built in 1928 and was home to many Tea Estate Managers from the Colonial Era. The architecture and many other features of the Bungalow are reminiscent of the great abundant life the British lived. Times have gone by, but Sheikalmudi stands testimony to how life was back in the day. The absolute silence this place offers is ideal to rejuvenate one's senses. We sometimes urge our guests to just do nothing at Sheikalmudi Bungalow and take in all that Nature has to offer them. The sight from the easy chair on the verandah is spectacular, with Sholayar Dam view on one side and rainforest on the other, the calming nature of the place is infectious.

The food at Sheikalmudi Bungalow will remind you that you are staying at home away from home. Be it an English Breakfast or a sumptuous South/ North Indian lunch or dinner, food served here is made with care. Some of the ingredients are homegrown and the others arrive fresh from Pollachi on a daily basis. We love to feed our guests with tasty food and pamper them spoilt! Service at Sheikalmudi is second to none. The comfort of our guests is our utmost priority and every step will be taken to ensure that! Carefully selected staff with vast knowledge about the local culture, wildlife, and folklore won't only serve you best but give you a great experience accompanying you in the jungle treks and tea plantation walks, most often sharing stories on their experience growing up in the mighty Anamalai Hills.

Nature enthusiasts and adventure junkies can take a walk either in the tea plantations with fragmented forests or they can pay a visit to the backwaters of Sholayar Dam where one can photograph wild animals if they are lucky. Shekalmudi Bungalow presents endless opportunity for nature lovers and wildlife photographers. From the frequent sounds of songbirds singing, to the occasional sounds of the massive Great Indian Hornbill flapping its wings and gliding past the landscape it is a feast to nature lovers. Elephants come in most of the year and are mostly seen around the backwaters. As dusk sets in, the night critters show up while the cold breeze softly engulfs you. Occasional calls of Jungle Fowls late evenings makes the experience unforgettable.
